Many of South Essex Homes residents living in flats will soon be able to recycle at home. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
The Neighbourhood Services and Caretaking Teams have been working closely with Cory Environmental & Southend Borough Council to provide a new recycling service to properties that have previously been unable to participate due to a lack of storage facilities.
South Essex Homes have recently carried out a pilot of the service in Malvern Chiltern and Pennine flats and saw 35% of residents use the recycle facility.
This success will see the recycling facility be introduced to all High Rise blocks and will continue to roll out the service to other flats that do not have the facility.
Tony Holliday Caretaking Manger said “This is a great opportunity for residents who have previously been unable to recycle to take part in such an important exercise; we have been really impressed with the amount deposited by the residents who have been involved so far “
