South Essex Homes celebrates local award
South Essex Homes has won a top award as part of the Public Sector – Community Award for its work in involving residents and vulnerable people. The 13th Southend District Business Awards, was held on Friday 7th November at the Cliffs Pavilion, Southend.
The annual awards are held to publicly celebrate and recognise the achievements of businesses across the Southend Borough.
Phil Lyons, Chair of the Board said
“We are delighted to have received this award for the recognition of the hard work that has taken place over the last year. It was an achievement to be a finalist as all the entries received are of a very high standard, so actually winning just confirms the importance of the award.
This award really shows how far we’ve come in the last couple of years. It’s only the second time that South Essex Homes has even entered the contest and winning it this year demonstrates the hard work that has taken place.
We are so grateful to have been chosen and would like to thank everyone involved that made this possible, especially the residents who work so hard giving up their time on a regular basis to shape their housing service for the future”.
South Essex Homes has been recognised for its work involving residents through Focus Groups, Board Membership, Resident representatives, Mystery shopping amongst other ways, as well as through the tenancy sustainment course that was introduced to tackle the problem of repeat homelessness.

Other finalists in the Public Sector category included St Christopher’s Cottage and Southend Festival. South Essex Homes is the Arms Length Management Organisation for Southend Borough Council.
