Make sure your not throwing your money away!
Residents of South Essex Homes are being urged to make sure they check their post from the Arm’s Length Management Organisation, following a local resident disposing of his winning entry in a prize draw.
Mr Kappler, of Viking Court, Shoebury, was the lucky prize draw winner in the South Essex Homes Rent Arrears Free campaign. All of South Essex Homes residents who have arrears free rent accounts for 31 days are entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning £100, £75, £50 and £25 worth of vouchers or invested into a Southend Credit Union Account.
Mr Kappler, who has lived in Southend for over 25 years said,
“I was so shocked when I received the phone call that I was a winner. I have been in arrears for the last 10 years and recently been working really hard at ensuring that my account is clear and have finally got on top of my finances. So this was the icing on the cake to be awarded for keeping on top of my money.
To be honest, I had just thrown the original letter away as I presumed it was junk mail – I won’t be doing that in the future!
I feel really overwhelmed and pleased about my win, which will go towards some new purchases for my home.
I find the easiest way to pay my rent is through the rent payment cards, there are no banks involved, I can just use cash and then know where I am with my money. My advice to those that are struggling with the current climate would be to try and get organised, know where you money is going in and out and then you know where you stand.
I would like to thank South Essex Homes for their help and making me a winner”.
Simon Putt, Group Manager, for Finance and Support Services added
“I am really pleased that this draw has gone to a worthy winner like Mr Kappler. The idea of these draws is to reward residents that are keeping to their tenancy conditions and paying their rent on time.
We also hope that it will be an added incentive for those that are struggling to keep straight with their finances. We would encourage any residents who are having financial problems to contact as soon as possible before their problems spiral out of control so we can work with them, on freephone 0800 024 057.
We work in partnerships with local agencies like Citizens Advice Bureau and Southend Credit Union to ensure that residents are receiving professional advice and support. ”
The campaign has been introduced to reward those residents that ensure there rent is paid on time and to encourage more people to pay on time. There is also the added incentive to encourage residents to invest their money wisely in partnering agencies likes Southend Credit Union.
The prize draws are held once a month and select random winners through a computer generated system. The only obligation is that residents must not be in arrears for a minimum of 31 days.
There are lots of different ways for residents to pay their rent from direct debt, over the internet at www.southessexhomes.co.uk , using swipe cards at outlets located across the Borough, text payments , and by contacting the Revenue Services team directly during normal working hours, for more information please do not hesitate to contact South Essex Homes on 0800 0234 057.
