It owns and manages approximately 6,230 properties and also works closely with Registered Social Landlords, and the private and voluntary sectors operating within the Borough to meet the housing needs of the people of Southend.

Housing Needs: Responsible for the provision of social housing through the Homeseekers' register and the Council's statutory role in relation to homelessness and housing advice.

Housing Strategy: Responsible for the Council’s overall Housing Strategy to ensure housing need continues to be met within the borough in the short, medium and long-term.

Private Sector Housing: Responsible for improving housing conditions for residents in the Borough. Our key policies include the Housing Assistance Regime which is the main mechanism for improving house conditions in the private sector.
