 South Essex Homes and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council are asking the people of the Southend to help shape our gender equality scheme by taking part in a short and simple questionnaire.
All local authorities have to publish gender equality schemes under new legislation. This requires us to treat men and women fairly and equally, and to work towards eliminating gender discrimination across the borough. The legislation also recognises transgender people in their chosen sex.
The consultation will help the South Essex Homes and the Council change and improve their services to meet the different needs of men and women. Both organisations are inviting all residents, community groups and staff for their views.
The gender equality schemes last for three years, after which it will be reviewed again with the community's input. Both organisations will work through a detailed action plan to deliver their commitments under the scheme.
