Awards and Accreditations
South Essex Homes have been on a path of continued improvement since its formation in October 2005 and one of our main aims is to provide a more supported community.
 

Detailed on the pages below are just some of the different awards and accreditations that South Essex Homes have made a commitment to.

Stonewall Top 100
South Essex Homes recognised for second year running.
Income Management Accreditation
South Essex Homes has received a national award for its Income management practices.
South Essex Homes and Local College Recognised for Achievements in Adult Education
South Essex Homes have received recognition for their work in adult education, we were awarded two certificates by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) for our work to help council tenants by providing life skills and tenancy sustainment courses.
National Housing Older Peoples Award 2011
South Essex Homes have been awarded "Gold" in the National Housing Older Peoples Award 2011.

Evening Echo Southend District Business Award 2010
South Essex Homes were awarded the “Excellent Customer Service” Award as part of the Southend District Business Awards.
Disability Symbol
This symbol is a recognition given by Jobcentre Plus to employers who have agreed to make certain positive commitments regarding the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled people.
Mindful Employer
This symbol recognises South Essex Homes as an employer who are positive about mental health. Led and supported by employers, the MINDFUL EMPLOYER® initiative is aimed at increasing awareness of mental health at work and providing support for businesses in recruiting and retaining staff.
NFA Awards 2010
South Essex Homes has been awarded two major accolades by the National Federation of ALMOs (NFA).
Evening Echo Business Countywide Awards 2010
South Essex Homes were awarded two awards at the Essex Countywide Business Awards. South Essex Homes collected the “Best Business in the community” and “Excellent Customer Service” awards at the ceremony held on Friday 23rd April at the Cliffs Pavilion.
TPAS Connecting People Awards 2010
South Essex Homes were finalists in two categories for the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS ) Connecting People Housing Awards.
EAC Housing for Older People Awards 2010
Two of South Essex Homes sheltered housing schemes have been awarded national awards. Great Mead, located in Shoebury and Nicholson House, located in Southend were both finalists in the EAC (Elderly Accommodation Council) Housing for Older People Awards 2010.
Anti Social Behaviour Accreditation
South Essex Homes are one of the first housing organisations to achieve accreditation by Housemark on behalf of the Social Landlords Crime and Nuisance Group.
Telecare Accreditation
South Essex Homes, are one of the first housing organisations to achieve accreditation by the Telecare Services Association.
Southend Evening Echo Business Awards 2009
South Essex Homes won the ‘Excellent Customer Service Award’ at the 2009 Southend Evening Echo Business Awards 2009.
Resident Involvement Champions
In February 2008, South Essex Homes was approved as Resident Involvement Champions (RICS) for the Eastern Region, as recognised by Government. Each of the nine regions in England has their own “resident involvement champion” ensuring local knowledge and shared understanding of good involvement practises.
Evening Echo Countywide Awards 2009
In March 2009, it was announced South Essex Homes are the finalists in both the community and excellent customer service awards as part of the Essex countywide Evening Echo Business Awards. The winners will be announced at the ceremony held in Early May.
TPAS Connecting People Awards 2009
Southend resident, Shirley Oreilly was awarded 2nd place in the “Tenant of the Year Award” as part of TPAS Connecting people awards in March 2009.
NFA Awards 2009
In February 2009 it was also announced that South Essex Homes are a finalist in the National Federation of ALMO's national award for "Best use of communication" for the marketing work involving sheltered schemes, which included show flats, brochures, and 360 degree tours.
Southend Evening Echo Business Awards 2008
In November 2008 South Essex Homes received the Southend Evening Echo Business Award in the community category. South Essex Homes has been recognised for its work involving residents as well as through the tenancy sustainment course that was introduced to tackle the problem of repeat homelessness.
UKHA Awards 2007
South Essex Homes were a finalist in the 2007 UK Housing Award for the “Making Neighbourhoods Safer” category. South Essex Homes were recognised in this national award for reducing anti social behaviour in the Cluny Square area of the town. Residents now have a sense of pride in the area and there has been a dramatic difference to the lives of the residents and local businesses in the area.
NVQ Success
Around 40 members of staff at South Essex Homes have achieved National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in Customer Service and Team Leading. This has been an important initiative for South Essex Homes to ensure that staff who have contact with their customers understand how their behaviour can impact on the service and experience of all the residents.
