Why do we mark Domestic Abuse Awareness Week?

Awareness Week is held every year across Essex, as an opportunity to spread messages about domestic abuse. It is held this week because 25th November is the international End Violence Against Women Day, established by the UN in 1999. People are asked to wear the white ribbon on this day to pledge they “will not commit, condone or remain silent about domestic abuse or violence against women.”
