Resident Co-ordinators

When Decent Homes, Planned Maintenance Works or repairs are carried out to properties i.e. replacement windows, doors, roofs, kitchens bathrooms etc it is often helpful to have a local resident act as Resident Co-ordinator.
The Resident Co-ordinator is the contact between residents, contractor and South Essex Homes and they are involved in regular meetings between the supervising officer and the contractor.
When works are due to be carried out, residents are sent letters giving information on the work to be carried out and asking for Resident Co-ordinators, but for further guidance please see the download at the bottom of this page.
High Street Vouchers are paid for every month a Resident Co-ordinator is involved in a contract. Transport to and from meetings can be arranged or if using your own vehicle, mileage and parking can be reclaimed.   Any expenses incurred such as telephone calls, visits etc can be claimed as long as a valid receipt is produced.
All Resident Co-ordinators are asked to complete a form indicating what information they would like put on posters/flyers advertising their involvement i.e. name and or telephone/address/e-mail details.  Once their involvement is completed these forms are destroyed.
Once a Resident Co-ordinator has been appointed the Supervising Officer will arrange for a pack to be sent giving more detailed information on the contract.  Resident Co-ordinators are also invited to regular meetings so that they can meet Officers and other Co-ordinators.
For further information either contact the Resident Involvement Team on 01702 212650.  For details of work to be carried out please contact the Supervising Officer mentioned on letters sent out.

Southend Tenants and Residents Federation

Recognised Tenants and Residents Associations, Street & Block Voices, have automatic membership to the Federation and meet on a monthly basis, they are attended by two tenant representatives from each residents association and four voting representatives from the Tenant Voice Association. The Federation welcomes non voting representatives to their meetings on an Observer basis.

Federation meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month except August and December and commence at 5pm.

If you would like further details of the venue or to receive an invite to attend please contact the Secretary of the Federation Mrs C Thipthorpe on 01702 298760.

Resident Led Projects is a scheme that allows residents to bid for a sum of money up to a maximum of £10,000 to enrich the lives of fellow residents/neighbours.
In the past the Resident Led Panel  have provided agreed funding for various projects eg landscaping, gazebos, decking, benches, awnings, canopies over external entrance doors, handrails, patio furniture,  laying of patios and paths in communal garden areas, electric fans in communal lounges.
The Panel have also agreed funding for equipment in communal kitchens and installed fencing in certain areas to improve security, as well as working in partnership with other organisation for a wildlife area on the Mendip Estate.
Should you and your neighbours wish to submit a bid to the Resident Led Panel please download the form and guidance sheet at the bottom of the page.  Please contact the Resident Involvement Team for assistance in completing the forms.  All forms must have the approval of your Neighbourhood Services Officer or in the case of Sheltered Units the approval of the Sheltered Housing Service Manager as well as one of our Technical Officers.
To discuss your idea for a project or for assistance in completing the forms and obtaining the necessary quotes etc please contact the Resident Involvement Team on 01702 212650.
The Panel  which is made up of 6 residents and 2 Officers meet at least 4 times a year.  Please contact the Resident Involvement Team to ascertain the dates of the meetings.
We would ask that completed forms together with the relevant quotes and if applicable plans/simple drawings are with the Resident Involvement Team at least 1 month prior to a Panel Meeting.
